Bookkeeper, accounting firm or tax office?
Bookkeeping-only practices keep your records current and hand them to your tax preparer at year end. Accounting and tax firms may do both, which some owners find simpler. Neither is better in general. What matters is who does the monthly work, how often you hear from them, and whether your books are ready when your tax preparer needs them.

Does location still matter?
