QuickBooks Online covers the core of bookkeeping, but most businesses eventually hit a gap: paying bills with approvals, collecting receipts, tracking inventory, or turning ecommerce payouts into clean entries. Add-ons fill those gaps and sync the results into QuickBooks Online.

Each app below was checked on the vendor's own website in September 2026, and each states that it connects to QuickBooks Online. We have grouped them by the job they do. Add only what solves a real problem, because every connected app is one more thing that can post entries to your books.

How we chose

  • States on its own website that it connects to QuickBooks Online
  • Still sold in September 2026, confirmed on the vendor's site
  • Solves a common small business gap in QuickBooks Online on its own
  • One pick per job, so the list covers bills, receipts, expenses, payroll, time, inventory, ecommerce, CRM and reporting
  • Features described from the vendor's own pages only
  1. BILL

Best for: Paying vendor bills with approvals

BILL (formerly Bill.com) is accounts payable software. It captures bill details, routes bills through approval workflows you set, and pays vendors by ACH, credit card, check or international wire. BILL says it connects to QuickBooks Online through a sync.

BILL also sells BILL Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy), which provides company cards, budgets and receipt capture with a two-way QuickBooks Online sync.

    • Approval workflows for bills
    • ACH, card, check and international wire payments
    • QuickBooks Online sync
    • Separate Spend & Expense product for company cards

    Worth knowing

    • Pricing isn't published on the product pages
    • Most useful once you have enough bills that approvals matter
  2. Dext

Best for: Getting receipts and supplier invoices into the books

Dext collects receipts, invoices and statements by mobile scan, email or upload, extracts the supplier, line items and due dates, and syncs the results to accounting software including QuickBooks Online. It keeps the original documents on file.

Dext sells plans for businesses and separate plans for accounting and bookkeeping firms, so your bookkeeper may already use it.

    • Capture by phone, email or upload
    • Extracts supplier and line-item details
    • Syncs to QuickBooks Online, Xero and Sage
    • Stores original documents

    Worth knowing

    • Business plans are limited by the number of documents
    • Someone still needs to review categories before items publish
  3. Expensify

Best for: Employee expense reports and reimbursements

Expensify's Collect plan, aimed at small businesses, includes receipt scanning, reimbursements, corporate card management, expense approvals and QuickBooks and Xero integrations. A free plan lets employees scan receipts, track mileage and submit expense reports.

The Control plan adds multiple approval flows, custom expense rules and integrations with larger systems.

    • Unlimited receipt scanning
    • Mileage tracking
    • Expense approvals and ACH reimbursement
    • QuickBooks Online integration on Collect

    Worth knowing

    • Priced per member, so cost grows with headcount
    • Overkill if only the owner has expenses
  4. QuickBooks Time

Best for: Tracking crew hours for payroll and job costing

QuickBooks Time is Intuit's time tracking product. Workers clock in from a mobile app, geofences remind them to clock in or out at a job site, and managers build schedules by job or shift.

Time data syncs to QuickBooks for payroll and invoicing. Intuit lists Premium and Elite plans and a 30-day free trial.

    • Mobile clock-in with job-site geofencing
    • Scheduling included on all plans
    • Syncs time to payroll and invoicing
    • 30-day free trial

    Worth knowing

    • Priced per worker, so cost grows with your crew
    • Some QuickBooks Payroll bundles already include time tracking, so check before buying it separately
  5. Gusto

Best for: Payroll outside QuickBooks that still posts cleanly to it

Gusto is full-service payroll with benefits and HR tools. Its QuickBooks Online integration posts payroll journal entries mapped to your own chart of accounts, with options for how contractor payments and taxes are grouped.

It suits businesses that want Gusto's plans or benefits but keep their books in QuickBooks Online. See our payroll software list for more options.

    • Payroll journal entries synced to QuickBooks Online
    • Maps payroll to your chart of accounts
    • Can split entries by class or department
    • Unlimited payroll runs on every employee plan

    Worth knowing

    • Set the account mapping carefully at the start; defaults may not fit your chart of accounts
    • Avoid syncing payrolls into periods you have already closed
  6. SOS Inventory

Best for: Product businesses that outgrow QuickBooks Online inventory

SOS Inventory adds inventory, order management and light manufacturing to QuickBooks Online. It handles serial and lot numbers, barcodes, sales and purchase orders, partial shipping and receiving, assemblies with bills of materials, and multiple locations.

It syncs directly with QuickBooks Online and offers a free two-week trial.

    • Serial and lot tracking
    • Sales orders, purchase orders and partial shipments
    • Assemblies and bills of materials
    • Multi-location inventory

    Worth knowing

    • A real step up in complexity; plan the setup before switching on
    • Additional users cost extra
  7. A2X

Best for: Online sellers reconciling marketplace payouts

A2X turns sales-channel payouts from Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, Walmart and PayPal into summarized entries that reconcile in QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage or NetSuite.

Instead of each order landing in your books, you get one organized summary per payout that matches the deposit in your bank.

    • Supports Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, Walmart and PayPal
    • Summaries that match each payout deposit
    • Works with QuickBooks Online
    • Handles multi-channel sellers

    Worth knowing

    • Only useful if you sell through these channels
    • Mapping needs care at setup so fees and sales tax land in the right accounts
  8. Method CRM

Best for: Service businesses that want a CRM tied to QuickBooks

Method is a customizable CRM built around QuickBooks, with a real-time two-way sync to QuickBooks Online and Desktop. It covers leads, estimates with online approval, invoicing with online payments, work orders and a customer portal.

Method says pricing depends on the number of users and features, and offers a free trial.

    • Two-way QuickBooks Online sync
    • Estimates with online approval
    • Customer portal
    • Work orders, scheduling and a mobile app

    Worth knowing

    • Pricing isn't shown on the home page
    • Customization takes setup time
  9. Fathom

Best for: Management reports and KPIs from QuickBooks data

Fathom connects to QuickBooks Online and produces financial analysis, custom management reports, KPI dashboards and three-way forecasts covering profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow. It can also consolidate several companies.

Fathom also connects to Xero, QuickBooks Desktop, Excel and Google Sheets, so reports can combine more than one source.

    • Custom management reports
    • KPI dashboards
    • Three-way forecasting
    • Multi-company consolidation

    Worth knowing

    • Reports are only as good as the books behind them
    • Pricing is on a separate page; check it before committing
  10. Float

Best for: Week-by-week cash flow forecasting

Float builds cash flow forecasts from QuickBooks Online or Xero data, pulling reconciled bank balances, invoices and bills. It offers weekly, 13-week and monthly views and scenario planning to test decisions before you make them.

Data syncs every 24 hours or on demand, and Float offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

    • Weekly, 13-week and monthly forecast views
    • What-if scenarios
    • Shows when invoices and bills are due
    • 14-day free trial

    Worth knowing

    • Relies on reconciled books; stale data means a stale forecast
    • Pricing isn't shown on the home page

How to choose add-ons

  • Start with the problem, not the app. Name the task that takes too long or keeps going wrong.
  • Check what QuickBooks Online already does on your plan. Plus, for example, includes project profitability and inventory tracking.
  • Ask your bookkeeper first. They may already use an app for the same job and know its quirks.
  • Test on a trial and review what the app posts to your books before you rely on it.
  • Keep a written list of connected apps and who owns each login.

What can go wrong

Every connected app can create transactions in QuickBooks Online. When two apps record the same sale, or an app's default accounts don't match your chart of accounts, income and expenses get doubled or misplaced. These problems are a common reason businesses need a cleanup.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find QuickBooks Online add-ons?

Intuit lists apps that connect to QuickBooks Online in its app marketplace, and each vendor's own site explains its integration. Check the vendor's page for what it syncs and which QuickBooks plans it supports.

Do add-ons work on every QuickBooks Online plan?

Not always. Some apps need features that only exist on higher plans, such as classes, locations or inventory. Check the vendor's requirements against your plan before you connect.

How many add-ons should a small business use?

As few as solve your real problems. Each app adds a subscription, a login to manage and another source of entries in your books. Many small businesses do well with one or two, such as a receipt tool and a payroll service.

Can an add-on mess up my QuickBooks file?

Yes. Duplicate entries and wrong account mappings are common after connecting a new app. Review what the app posts during the first month, and reconcile your accounts monthly. Our article on cleanup vs. catch-up bookkeeping explains the fix if things have gone wrong.

Is QuickBooks Time an add-on?

Yes. QuickBooks Time is sold separately from QuickBooks Online plans, though some QuickBooks Payroll bundles include time tracking. Check Intuit's pricing pages for what your bundle includes.
